This seven-LP series of piano solos' main purposes were to document
Horace Tapscott's playing and to introduce obscure compositions, the majority being his own.
Tapscott tends to sound more fiery and focused when playing with a medium-size group so these releases are not quite essential. However this date does have six worthy originals plus a song apiece by
Louis Spears and his former bandmember
Arthur Blythe ("As of Yet").
