Album Review

Time Life music collections are always solid, well-done affairs, and this one, which features classic early era rock & roll hits from 1962, is no exception. Every track is a hands down winner, and it's always wonderful to hear such timeless gems as Little Eva's "The Loco-Motion," the Drifters' elegant "Up on the Roof," Del Shannon's "Little Town Flirt," and Booker T. & the MG's sturdy and infectious "Green Onions." 1962 was also the year of the twist dance craze, and two immortal selections here, the Isley Brothers' "Twist and Shout" and Sam Cooke's "Twistin' the Night Away," reflect that.
Steve Leggett, Rovi
