Released in 2011 by the Spectrum label (via Sanctuary and Universal UK), this two-disc set is one of the best Shalamar anthologies. The first disc contains 19 tracks, mostly single and album edits of the group’s A-sides from 1977’s “Uptown Festival Medley” through 1987’s “Games.” With the exception of “Dancing in the Sheets” -- its inclusion likely a licensing issue, since it appeared on the Footloose soundtrack, a Columbia release -- the disc has every song a casual fan needs. The second disc is packed with 13 12” versions, almost all of which trump their album-bound and radio-edit counterparts on disc one.
