Album Review

Hardcore Hits is an 18-track distillation of Discharge's underrated and influential career (Metallica and Anthrax, among others, counted themselves fans and recorded cover versions of several songs present here). Whether it's the best overview of their career is hard to say; the Clay Punk Singles Collection offers nine more songs, although Hardcore Hits does contain some songs left off that release, and the Clay collection is available only as an import. Plus, Hardcore Hits is pressed on an audiophile gold disc, which might give it the edge for some. In any case, Discharge's metal/hardcore fusion should be heard in some form by genre aficionados, and it still slams as hard today as it did when first released.
