Louis Prima's longtime bandleader keeps the torch burning brightly on this live outing, blowing the roof off of some unnamed lounge with a vengeance. The band is a strong match for any of the classic versions of
the Witnesses (the band who
Butera led on all the
Prima recordings) and
Butera does a nice stand-in for
Prima on "Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody," "I'm Confessin'," and the closer, a medley of "Cella Luna/When the Saints Go Marching In." This is the kind of album that if you saw the show live, you'd buy one at the merchandising tent that night. One for the
Prima completists.
