Futique's third album Go Low serves up more fun, stylish electro-jazz with equal doses of cheese and atmosphere. Highlights include the sly, funky "Lionel Shuffle," the stark, pseudo-Asian melody of "Perpetual Spirit" and "Sugar in the Raw," with its overlapping, syncopated beats and minimalistic horns and organs. "C-Nut" and "Bubble Trouble" also reveal how Futique's sparse but effective arrangements belie the musical skill behind the kitsch.
