Album Review

There is no denying that the classic Jimmy Reed sides cut for Vee Jay Records are a must-have. Realistically though, as amazing as this material is, the Jimmy Reed Big Boss Man [Box Set] is for rabid Reed fanatics. While Collectables did an admirable job on this limited-edition ten-CD set, ten CDs of Reed can get repetitive. Most listeners will be happy with the single Rhino disc, Blues Masters: The Very Best of Jimmy Reed. If you want more material, Collectables has released the original Reed albums that make up the box set (original cover art and all) separately, some as two-fers. No matter what, its great to have such quality material from Jimmy Reed easily available.
