Album Review

Soul Music is a Curtis Mayfield singles retrospective issued by Planet Media for the U.K. and European market. It doesn't include anything from Mayfield's breakout soul/funk soundtrack experiment Superfly, nor any of that album's immediate follow-ups. Instead, Soul Music features a clutch of singles and album sides from the late '70s and early '80s, including the title track, "Baby It's You," and "Heartbeat."
