So day #1 of the main stage acts at Craven, and despite the weather, I'm in my bliss. On my wishlist of singers I was dying to see this year, Sara Evans was right at the very top. I'm maybe one of the few people who owns her very first cd called "Three Chords & the Truth", which although commercially unsuccessful, was hailed by the critics as an amazing cd.

I met and first saw Sara on stage at a place called the Uptown Theatre in downtown Calgary back in the mid 90's when "No Place That Far" was launching her into a new level of her career. At that time I was an instant fan, and after seeing her tonight, am an even bigger fan. She sounded incredible, looked amazing, and closed down the show with a great take on Cheap Trick's "I Want you to Want Me". I do have one huge disappointment though - she didn't sing "No Place That Far" which, to me, is the song that made her career what it is today. I did leave the show feeling a little incomplete, which quickly went away after a bag of mini-donuts!
