Be The Difference - Wear the Shirt!

Today is Pink Shirt Day!    Get out the pink and wear it proudly to take a stand on a huge issue that are hurting the kids in our city, in our province, in our country.

I read a recent study on increasing child suicide rates...one of the biggest factors - bullying.  Think about that for a second.  For some kids, bullying can be so bad, taking their own life is an option.  How is that possible?  That's why we need to stand together as adults and make this stop.  The scariest thing for a bullied child, is the thought that no one can help them.

 Why Pink?

Pink became the colour,  when in 2007,  a group of students in Nova Scotia took a stand against bullying.  They asked all students to wear pink in support of a guy in their class who was bullied for wearing that very colour.  The idea took off and now the bullying awareness campaign has also taken off across the country.

Take the time today to talk to your kids specifically about bullying and their thoughts on it.  Find out about their day, the problems they are having in school.  You may find out today that your child is being bullied.

We need to ban together to make sure this stops.
