Disease Sniffing Dogs: The Video Report
June 28, 2009 - 7:30pm.
We've all heard that there's dogs out there that can detect people with cancer or diabetes, or some other serious disease or condition, right? Well now, you can see the dog's who are training for this in action! In this video from Reuters, you'll see dog's that can detect cancer cells in human urine, and one man's dog that alerts him every time he's about to have a hypoglycemic attack. The goal of this research is to be able to produce some kind of machine or device that will act like a dog's nose in detecting these things.
In the meantime, my own dog Ralph can only alert me when a car drives by the big front window of the house... or when a person walks by... or if there's a cat, bird, someone cutting their grass, or someone gardening. He's a genius.
